{"id":3636,"date":"2018-07-05T18:34:03","date_gmt":"2018-07-05T18:34:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hostalitecloud.com\/era\/?p=3636"},"modified":"2025-02-04T18:36:04","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T18:36:04","slug":"uganda-ranked-first-in-inaugural-electricity-regulatory-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hostalitecloud.com\/era\/uganda-ranked-first-in-inaugural-electricity-regulatory-index\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda Ranked First in Inaugural Electricity Regulatory Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Uganda\u2019s Electricity Regulatory Framework has been ranked number one in the inaugural Electricity Regulatory Index (ERI) for Africa, released by the African Development Bank in June 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The ERI is a composite index that aimed to measure the level of development of the Electricity Regulatory Sector of African countries based on Industry best practice. The index was composed of three sub-indexes on Regulatory Governance, Substance, and Outcome.<\/p>\n<p>According to the index, Uganda and Namibia achieved the highest Electricity Regulatory Index scores because the actions and decisions of their Regulators had a positive influence on the utilities\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n<p>The index noted the critical areas of improvement as decision making in Tariff setting, technical regulation, development of appropriate licensing framework to support off-grid systems, and commercial regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The Electricity Regulatory Index for Africa is a product of the Power, Energy, Climate Change and Green Growth Complex of the African Development Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The other countries that participated in the survey were Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, Cameroon, South Africa, Togo, Senegal, Cote D\u2019Ivoire, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and Gambia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hostalitecloud.com\/era\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Electricity_Regulatory_Index_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Please\u00a0<\/strong><strong>DOWNLOAD the full Index Report HERE.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uganda\u2019s Electricity Regulatory Framework has been ranked number one in the inaugural Electricity Regulatory Index (ERI) for Africa, released by the African Development Bank in June 2018.
