The 3rd Annual Microfinance and Savings Groups Conference was successfully held on 10\u201311 November 2025 at Hotel Africana, Kampala. The event, organised by Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in partnership with the Association Microfinance Institutions of Microfinance (AMFIU) together with other partners ran under the theme:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cSustainable Financial Inclusion for Environmental, Economic, and Social Impact.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Building on the progress and shared commitments of the 2022 and 2024 convenings, the 2025 conference focused on how Uganda\u2019s microfinance and savings groups sector can innovate, adapt, and thrive within an evolving national and global landscape. Discussions emphasized alignment with key national frameworks, including NDP III, the Parish Development Model, the Climate Change Policy, and Vision 2040.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The conference brought together a diverse range of actors from across Uganda\u2019s financial ecosystem and beyond to reimagine the future of microfinance and savings groups. The dialogue centered on advancing financial inclusion, promoting green economic transformation, and ensuring socially equitable outcomes for all Ugandans.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Advance Sustainable Financial Inclusion:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Promote innovative microfinance models and strengthen policy alignment that integrates environmental sustainability and climate resilience, ensuring financial services support green and socially inclusive development.<\/span><\/li>\n

Foster Sector Innovation and Collaboration:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Highlight technological advancements and data-driven solutions for impact measurement, while enhancing cross-sector collaboration to support digital transformation and empower grassroots mechanisms such as Savings Groups.<\/span><\/li>\n

Harmonize Policy and Strengthen Consumer Protection:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Facilitate discussions on regulatory harmonization, assess the effectiveness of government programs, and address consumer protection issues to build a robust, transparent, and fair microfinance environment.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
