I. K. John Byaruhanga is an economist with a broad range of experience in the public sector, where he has served in various positions at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development for the last 20 years. He is currently the Acting Commissioner – Tax Policy Department at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

He previously held the positions of Acting Commissioner – Financial Services Department and Acting Assistant Commissioner – Economic Development Policy and Research Department at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Mr. Byaruhanga holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Economics from Makerere University (Uganda) and a Master of Public Administration in Economic Policy Management from Columbia University, New York City.
